MMA FIGHTER “WAR MACHINE” WANTED ON VIOLENT CHARGES ARRESTED

 A professional fighter sought by authorities after his former girlfriend accused him of attacking her and a friend at her home in Las Vegas has been arrested in the Los Angeles area, officials said on Friday.

Jonathan Koppenhaver, also known by the name "War Machine" for his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, was taken into custody at a hotel in the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley by U.S. Marshals and local police on Friday afternoon, the Simi Valley Police Department said in a statement.

ARIZONA MAN GETS BUSTED FOR POSING AS BOUNTY HUNTER

KINGMAN - A Kingman, Arizona man faces theft-related charges after he reportedly posed as a bail bondsmen and collected $325 from a woman for capturing a man he never found.

Edward Bruce Gould Jr., 49, of Kingman, was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of forgery following an investigation started by Mohave County Sheriff's detectives March 14.

A 78-year-old woman told detectives she paid Gould $325 in February after he told her he captured a man she hired him to find.

The woman had previously posted bail for the man, who was arrested last year on drug charges and failed to appear for court.

FAKE BOUNTY HUNTER SENTENCING POSTPONED

BRIDGETON, NJ — For the second time, Sentencing was  postponed for the Vineland man who posed as a bounty hunter and arrested a pregnant woman while demanding money from her boyfriend in the fall of 2012.

The case against Edward Collins has been anything but ordinary. In his last appearance in late December, which was also supposed to be a sentencing, Collins unexpectedly fired his attorney, Michael P. Resavage, and attempted to withdraw his plea agreement with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office. 

Collins said his reason for firing Resavage was an inability to "communicate" with him....

HAWAII BAIL BONDSMAN ACCUSED OF IMPERSONATING POLICE OFFICER

HONOLULU  - Authorities say they've arrested a 35-year-old man who is accused of impersonating a police officer and threatening two men at a Waikiki hotel.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser says the man was arrested Saturday evening on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree impersonating a law enforcement officer.

Police say the man threatened a 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old man at the Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk hotel.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, reportedly operates a Big Island bail bonds company.

HAWAII BOUNTY HUNTER INVOLVED IN HIGH-SPEED CHASE FACING ENDANGERMENT AND DRUG CHARGES

A bounty hunter has been indicted on numerous charges stemming from what witnesses allegedly told police was a high-speed chase through Keaukaha in September.

The six-count indictment dated Jan. 15 charges 43-year-old Benny William Gordon of Pahoa with first-degree criminal property damage, second-degree reckless endangering and two counts each of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The property damage charge is a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment, the drug and paraphernalia charges are both Class C felonies punishable by up to five...

FUGITIVE SHOT BY BAIL AGENT

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -

A St. Petersburg man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after he tried to run over three bail bondsmen who showed up at his house Thursday evening, according to police.

Lorenzo Arscott, 24, was shot in the shoulder as he drove a Toyota Camry toward the three men at 4248 4th Avenue South.  

"A bondsman produced a gun and felt that he was in fear of his life," said Mike Puetz with St. Petersburg police.  "He fired several rounds into the windshield of the car," Puetz said.

JAIL FLOAT BANNED FROM NORTH CAROLINA CHRISTMAS PARADE

CLAYTON, N.C., Dec. 5  -- Officials in a North Carolina city said a bail bonds business will not return for this year's Christmas parade following last year's jail-themed float.

Jim Godfrey, president of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, said a local bail bond company will not be participating in the upcoming Christmas parade after the owners s took exception to being told they could not bring back elements of last year's float, the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer reported Thursday.

BAIL BONDSMAN ACCUSED OF RECRUITING INMATE GANG MEMBERS FOR CRIMES

MODESTO, CALIFORNIA (CBS13) – Modesto police have arrested a bail agent for allegedly going to a jail and soliciting gang members to commit violent crimes, including murder.

Praveen Singh, who also goes by the name “Prajeer Singh”, 34 of Modesto, was arrested at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on charges of shooting at an inhabited house, attempting to shoot at an inhabited house and trying to hire someone to commit a robbery.

Police say in 2013 Singh, a licensed bail agent with Singh Bail Bonds, was going to Stanislaus County Jail under the guise of working as a criminal defense investigator....
