CALIFORNIA BONDSMAN FACING FELONY CHARGES

A Sacramento bail bondsman, who is an ex-felon with a drug history, has been criminally charged with a number of weapons violations for taking guns instead of money from arrestees who were looking to get out of jail.

Some of the guns that bondsman Shawn Allen Rapoza accepted in lieu of cash were stolen, according a prosecutor’s declaration supporting the 21-count criminal complaint filed Nov. 19 by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

TEXAS FUGITIVE WANTED FOR MURDER STILL AT LARGE

Fugitive Colt Morgan, 29, remains at large after a confrontation with Buffalo police Saturday night, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Police say they attempted to stop a man who they believe was Morgan at around 8 pm. Morgan has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

"During questioning by the Buffalo police officer, the suspect attempted to flee and assaulted the officer by head butting him," according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

Police say the suspect fled on foot, but reportedly left a pistol behind at the scene.

FELON OPENS FIRE ON BAIL AGENTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA

A standoff with a convicted felon has ended peacefully after authorities say a South Florida man fired at bail bonds agents as they tried to arrest him.

Palm Beach County sheriff's officials say bail bonds agents arrived at Kenneth Burroughs' home Friday night and were shot at by Burroughs. The suspect eventually came out of his home and was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, shooting within a dwelling, and child neglect. Authorities say Burroughs has several past felony convictions.

NC BONDSMAN ARRESTED FOR FRAUD

ASHEVILLE — A Waynesville, NC bail bondsman is behind bars on embezzlement and fraud charges.

Juan Camacho, 45, of 275 Hyatt St., was charged today with 12 counts each of embezzlement and obtaining property by false pretense, according to a news release from state Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin’s office.

Department of Insurance criminal investigators allege that between 2012 and 2013, while working as a licensed bail bondsman, Camacho fraudulently obtained money from bonds he wrote without the knowledge of his employer and converted those funds for his own personal use....

MAN FILES SUIT AGAINST KANSAS BOUNTY HUNTER

TEXAS - An Amarillo man filed a negligence suit Wednesday against a Kansas bounty hunter, alleging the man wrongfully identified him as a bail jumper, Tasing and assaulting him in front of a north Amarillo motel last year.

The suit was filed in 320th District Court by Aguer Gak, a Sudanese immigrant who works at Tyson Fresh Meats, against Donald Ray Adams.

On Nov. 17, 2012, Adams, 66, approached Gak about 8:30 p.m. as Gak was talking on a cellphone near the Cowboy Motel, 3619. E. Amarillo Blvd., according to the suit and Amarillo police reports.

BOUNTY HUNTERS WANTED FOR LYING ABOUT BREAKING DOWN WRONG DOOR IN SEARCH OF FUGITIVE

FARGO, ND – Bounty hunters chasing criminals in Fargo last month face criminal charges after allegedly lying to police about breaking down the wrong person’s door in a fugitive search.

Five people  were charged Friday in Cass County District Court. The charges come in connection with the bounty hunters’ September search for a man who skipped court. They didn’t find the man, but in early October they found a female wanted by U.S. marshals for skipping a court appearance on drug possession and concealed weapons charges.

BOUNTY HUNTERS WHO RAIDED WRONG HOME NOW BEING SUED

TENNESSEE - A Roane County family is suing a bail bondsman and two employees for $225,000, saying they broke into the wrong home and assaulted them.

The suit states the bondsmen were looking for Kayla Inman, who had been arrested in Montgomery, Ala. for domestic violence. She posted bond on Aug. 29, 2012 of $1,000 via Affordable Bail Bonds owned by Rueben Brown.

She then violated her bail by not appearing in court on Oct. 25, 2012.

On November 13. 2012, bondsmen Michael Henderson Jr. and Learnest Wilson began looking for Inman and were granted permission to arrest Inman anywhere in the state...

TWO BONDSMEN IN HOT WATER AFTER ENTERING WRONG HOUSE

NORTH CAROLINA - Two bail bondsmen are facing charges after going into the wrong house looking for a suspect.

Donald William Bradley, 48, and Michael James Kane, 43, both of Statesville-based DOC Bail Bonding LLC, were charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering and second-degree trespass, and Kane is also facing charges of false imprisonment and simple assault.

Magistrate Reba Imes released Bradley, of Barbary Drive, Statesville, after he signed a written promise to appear in court and released Kane, of Monroe, on a $1,500 unsecured bond.

SUSPECT CAUGHT AFTER ATTACKING FEMALE BOND AGENT

NORTH CAROLINA - A Gastonia police officer was hurt Sunday night while trying to arrest a man who was assaulting a bail bonds agent, according to police. The officer was reaching into the car when the suspect drove away, dragging her and sideswiping another car as she held on.

The suspect, Lumarris Guinn, 22, fled the scene but was caught around 3 p.m. Monday. The incident began around 8:40 p.m. Sunday with a reported assault at 215 E. Garrison Blvd., across from the Water Tower shopping area. Police arrived around 9 p.m. to find the assault taking place, said Gastonia Police Sgt. N.R. Capistran.
