BOUNTY HUNTER FINDS HEROIN STASH WHILE HUNTING FUGITIVE

NORTH EAST MD — A bounty hunter did not find his wanted man when he entered a residence near North East early Thursday morning, but police say he discovered something else that made his trip worthwhile — more than 600 bags of heroin.

The bondsman also found a sawed-off shotgun and a .22-caliber revolver, according to the Maryland State Police, which confiscated the heroin and firearms.

Now the man who lives at that home in the 100 block of North Main Street Extended — investigators have identified Will Pettis III, 68, as the suspect — is facing eight drug charges, police said, adding...

BAIL BONDSMEN INDICTED FOR SERIOUS CHARGES

LAS VEGAS  -- The Clark County grand jury handed down indictments against three men charged with holding a woman and her children at gunpoint while robbing them.

John Kevin McCabe, who operates a Las Vegas Bail Bonds business, John Kevin McCabe Jr., the elder McCabe’s son, and Charles McChesney, a licensed bail agent, face felony counts involving assault with use of deadly weapon, extortion to collect a debt with the use of a deadly weapon, invasion of the a home, burglary, and grand larceny.

FAKE BOUNTY HUNTERS FACING SERIOUS CHARGES

LAS VEGAS -- Two suspected bounty hunter pretenders face new charges for impersonating a police officer, kidnapping, and burglary.

Christopher Ontiveros-Cruz, 28, and Charles Sean Rush, 29, who were indicted Aug. 14, were re-indicted Wednesday and returned to court this morning at the Regional Justice Center.

A bail enforcement agent who has run into the suspects before -- both as a bounty hunter and a cop – says the suspects failed to possess a license.

EX-PARAMEDIC JAILED AFTER TEXAS EXPLOSION RELEASED ON BAIL

DALLAS (Reuters) - A former paramedic who responded to a deadly explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant in April, only to be charged weeks later with unlawful possession of pipe bomb components, was released from a county jail on Thursday.

A federal judge ordered Bryce Reed, 31, to be released on a $25,000 bond into the custody of his mother.

Reed was indicted in May for possession of an unregistered destructive device. Earlier he had become one of the faces of the rescue effort in the aftermath of the massive explosion in the town of West.

ARIZONA MAN POSING AS POLICE OFFICER FOUND GUILTY OF SIX COUNTS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT

A man accused of sexually assaulting three women while posing as a police officer and bounty hunter was found guilty Tuesday in Pima County Superior Court.

Norman Adrian Alvarez was found guilty on six of seven counts against him in Judge Javier Chon-Lopez’s courtroom.

Police and prosecutors said Alvarez told two different women on the same night he was either an undercover police officer or a bounty hunter then grabbed their breasts.

POLICE FILE ASSAULT CHARGES ON FAKE BOUNTY HUNTER

Billings, MT - A man who witnesses said pulled a gun at a Laurel bar after telling people he was a bounty hunter has been charged in Yellowstone County District Court.

Eric Curtis Hurley, 33, has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of assault with a weapon. He was released from the county jail after posting a $7,500 bond.

Hurley was arrested July 27 when Laurel officers were called to the Caboose Bar on West Main Street at about 10:40 p.m. for a report of a man who pulled a gun and fired a shot in the bar parking lot.

COLORADO BOUNTY HUNTERS HELP POLICE CATCH DANGEROUS SUSPECT

Pueblo, CO - Bounty hunters looking for a Pueblo man triggered a 90-minute siege outside a South Side apartment Tuesday that only came to an end when the heavily armed tactical squad arrived .

Ray D. Gonzales, 28, surrendered about 4:20 p.m. after a nervous few minutes where he talked to police from a second-story window while tactical officers kept their weapons trained on him.

Gonzales was arrested on two outstanding warrants for third-degree assault and a restraining order violation. A second man, Geoffrey Archuletta, 27, also was arrested when he left the apartment by a back door early in the stand-off....
