JAIL FLOAT BANNED FROM NORTH CAROLINA CHRISTMAS PARADE

CLAYTON, N.C., Dec. 5  -- Officials in a North Carolina city said a bail bonds business will not return for this year's Christmas parade following last year's jail-themed float.

Jim Godfrey, president of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, said a local bail bond company will not be participating in the upcoming Christmas parade after the owners s took exception to being told they could not bring back elements of last year's float, the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer reported Thursday.

BAIL BONDSMAN ACCUSED OF RECRUITING INMATE GANG MEMBERS FOR CRIMES

MODESTO, CALIFORNIA (CBS13) – Modesto police have arrested a bail agent for allegedly going to a jail and soliciting gang members to commit violent crimes, including murder.

Praveen Singh, who also goes by the name “Prajeer Singh”, 34 of Modesto, was arrested at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday on charges of shooting at an inhabited house, attempting to shoot at an inhabited house and trying to hire someone to commit a robbery.

Police say in 2013 Singh, a licensed bail agent with Singh Bail Bonds, was going to Stanislaus County Jail under the guise of working as a criminal defense investigator....

CALIFORNIA BONDSMAN FACING FELONY CHARGES

A Sacramento bail bondsman, who is an ex-felon with a drug history, has been criminally charged with a number of weapons violations for taking guns instead of money from arrestees who were looking to get out of jail.

Some of the guns that bondsman Shawn Allen Rapoza accepted in lieu of cash were stolen, according a prosecutor’s declaration supporting the 21-count criminal complaint filed Nov. 19 by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

TEXAS FUGITIVE WANTED FOR MURDER STILL AT LARGE

Fugitive Colt Morgan, 29, remains at large after a confrontation with Buffalo police Saturday night, according to the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Police say they attempted to stop a man who they believe was Morgan at around 8 pm. Morgan has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend.

"During questioning by the Buffalo police officer, the suspect attempted to flee and assaulted the officer by head butting him," according to a press release from the sheriff's office.

Police say the suspect fled on foot, but reportedly left a pistol behind at the scene.
